MEMORY LANE CAFES IN ELTHAM
Our 2 memory cafes located in Eltham are funded by the Royal Borough of Greenwich and open on a Tuesday and Wednesday every week.
Middle Park Community Centre Eltham, London SE9 5SD – Tuesday’s 10.30 am – 2.30 pm(parking available on the main road)
Age Concern House, Sherard Road, Eltham, SE9 6EX – Wednesday’s 10.30 am – 2.30 pm(limited parking)
Both venues are informal and are set within a safe environment. Our aim is to ensure that carers and people living with dementia/memory loss feel they have been supported and leave the café with a sense of well-being.
We operate on a ‘drop-in’ basis and gives those attending the chance to take part in activities which provide reminiscences, entertainment and above all fun. The cafes serve multiple purposes which include reducing social isolation by providing a regular meeting place for people living with dementia/memory loss and their carers. You can also find further information and advice of other services in Greenwich. The cafes are a place where support and information about dementia can be shared as well as an opportunity to participate in discussion and activities.
The cafes also assist in the process of early diagnosis and provide a useful entry point to the care system. Many people make friendships as a result of attending the cafes and are able to support each other outside of the café setting. Our staff and volunteers are always at hand to welcome carers and the person with dementia/memory loss to our cafes and strive to make their visit an enjoyable experience.
A cooked lunch is available at a cost of £3.50(includes tea/coffee and soft drinks)
